In a special ceremony, the National Museum of American History will honor legendary trailblazing filmmaker DuVernay with the Great Americans Medal for lifetime contributions that embody American ideals and ideas. DuVernay is an Academy Award nominee and winner of Emmy, BAFTA, Sundance, Image and Peabody awards, and she founded the narrative change collective ARRAY in 2011.

The medal presentation and conversation between DuVernay and Rubenstein are part of the Great Americans Medal Awards Program, the museum’s signature honor. More information on the medal is available. The medal presentation will be webcast live at 7 p.m. ET, and the link will be provided to those who preregister.
