- Outfielder Roger Maris played Major League Baseball for the Cleveland Indians (1957-1958), Kansas City Athletics (1958-1959), New York Yankees (1960-1966) and St. Louis Cardinals (1967-1968). A two-time American League Most Valuable Player (1960, 1961), seven-time All-Star, and three-time World Series Champion (1961, 1962, 1967), Maris is best known for breaking of Babe Ruth’s single season home run record, swatting 61 in 1961.
