- Description
- Pin in the shape of a lock symbolizing the connection between the National Postal Transport Association (NPTA) and the American Federation of Labor. The National Postal Transport Association is one of several names given to a segment of postal employees that originated in 1891 with the formation of the National Association of Railway Postal Clerks. The clerks changed the organization name to the Railway Mail Association in 1904 and in 1949 to the National Postal Transport Association. Postal jobs represented by the NPTA merged with a number of other postal organizations in 1971 to form the American Postal Workers Union.
