Far Hills -- Richards Garden
Object Details
- General
- Designed by Nelva M. Weber, this was the garden at the home of Reuben F. and Lisa Richards. The country property featured a Colonial revival-style house and its spacious grounds accomodated a swimming pool, broad lawns, and mature trees. For outdoor entertaining Weber created a brick terrace adjacent to the home's living room, defining it with a pierced brick wall fronted by flowering shrubs, clematis, and a boxwood border. Another brick wall helped to delineate the lawn area, which was made more interesting by an expanse of ground cover plants. A second grass terrace completed the design.
- Additional documentation relating to the garden may be found in the Nelva Weber Papers in the Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections of the Cornell University Library.
