Brookside -- Sharp Garden
Object Details
- General
- Highlighted in a New York Times article in 1965, the Sharp Garden was noteworthy because of its effective treatment of a rocky, erosion-prone slope at the front of the house. Emendation of the soil and the planting of vinca resulted in a practical visual solution. At the top of the embankment adjacent to the house a walk of patio blocks was built. A variety of trees and shrubs including Washington hawthorns, Andorra junipers, boxwood, yew, holly, and andromeda was installed, resulting in a pleasing front entrance to the home. Molly Adams's photographs show the landscaping at the front of the house as well as an additional area at the side or rear of the property.
