Converse Garden

Object Details

General: This garden, which appears to have been in a suburban setting, featured a broad driveway highlighted by lawns, shrubs, and a circular garden area in front of the main entrance to the home. At the back of the house a terrace accented by garden borders overlooked a fence-enclosed lawn planted with specimen trees. One of the contact prints included on the sheet in the file is not of the Converse Garden, but is of a street scene, possibly Garden City, New York, the business district of which had benefitted from landscape design by Alice Recknagel Ireys in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The location of the Converse Garden, however, is not known.
