Caption: Pictures above is Andrew Young addressing the audience at the first birthday celebration in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Young was one of Dr. King's closest leutenants [sic] and was at his side within seconds after the shots rang out that killed him at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee.
Description: This black and white photograph shows Andrew Young in profile speaking at a lectern inside the Ebenezer Baptist Church during Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday commemoration in 1969. There are two figures in front of the camera facing Young. White flowers can be seen on either side of Young and there is a crowd in front of the chancel. Young is in the center of the photograph looking out toward the crowd. The back of the photograph has a manufacturer's mark, and handwritten and printer's inscriptions.
