- This Olympic Winter Games Issue stamp commemorates the opening of the Eighth Olympic Winter Games, held in Squaw Valley, California, February 18-29, 1960. The first celebration of the Winter Olympics was held in Chamonix, France, in 1924. They are held every four years. The stamp features the Olympic Rings and a snowflake.
